The Lord Lyon attended the blessing on Sunday of the Letters Patent granting arms to Col. David Cobbett in St John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Inverdruie, by Aviemore. The blessing was conducted by the Rev Canon Tony Sparham during morning service

The blazon reads: Argent, a chevron couped Azure between three corbies rising Sable membered and langued Gules, each holding in their dexter claw  a locomotive driving wheel Vert. His crest remembers the descents of his late wife Beatrix through Ogilvie and Cockburn.

From 350 years ago

Following on from the blazon of the arms of the Sovereign as King of Scots/Scotland, the next entry in Volume 1 of the Public Register is the arms of the monarch as Sovereign of Great Britain as used in Scotland.

The arms so described are the same as those used by Charles II's grandfather, James VI and are displayed in Edinburgh Castle.

Arms photographed in 2006 by David Appleton and used by permission
