Lyon in Malawi

 The Lord Lyon visited the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital Balantyre Malawi to present a donation for the work of Operation Smile providing interventions for those who have cleft pallets and lips . The work of Smile Malawi was impressively explained by Ms Desiree Mhango.

Ms Mhango studied for a Master's degree at Queen Margaret University Edinburgh.

The Honours of Scotland

The Procession for the ceremony of the Presentation to the King of The Honours of Scotland yesterday consisted of three "pods" or diamond shaped groups, each consisting of an Honour borne, accompanied by a member of the Royal Company of Archers, two Escorts and an herald.

The first "pod" surrounded the great Elizabeth Sword.

The magnificent new Elizabeth Sword, replacing the ancient Sword of State which was too fragile for the occasion, was presented to the King by one of Scotland's greatest Olympians Dame Katherine Grainger DBE, Chancellor of the University of Glasgow.


The second "pod" surrounded the great Sceptre.

The Sceptre was presented to His Majesty by the Lord Justice Clerk, Lady Dorrian. 


The third "pod" surrounded the Crown of Scotland.
The Hon. Adam Bruce, Marchmont Herald, Lochlan Sweaton Head Boy of Balwearie High School, Ailsa Russell Head Girl of Clydeview Academy, The Duke of Hamilton and Brandon, Lord Bruce.


The Duke of Hamilton and Brandon, hereditary bearer of the Crown of Scotland, presented it, the oldest Crown in the United Kingdom, to His Majesty.
