Royal Proclamation of the Calling of a New Parliament

The Lord Lyon,  accompanied by the Officers of Arms, Sheriff Clerk, Returning Officer, and State Trumpeters issued the Royal Proclamation following the dissolution of Parliament and calling a new one at the Mercat Cross, Edinburgh today. 






A great untrumpeted aspect of Royal Proclamations like today's in Edinburgh is our state trumpeters, joined for the first time by a woman - Gerry Goodall, appropriately welcomed by Linlithgow Pursuivant Extraordinary, Professor Gillian Black.

Argent on a chevron Gules between a bodkin accompanied on the dexter by a pair of shears expanded in saltire and in the sinister by a tailor's smoothing iron all proper in chief, on a mount in base Vert a tent purpure fringed Or, a cutting square chevronwise of the last.
