Society of Advocates of Aberdeen gains Supporters

 On the 30th September at The Town and County Hall Aberdeen the Lord Lyon presented the President of the Society of Advocates of Aberdeen with Letters Patent granting Supporters recognising the 250th Anniversary of their Charter granted by George III.  The Artist was Garry Millie.

Lyon addresses National Police Memorial Day

 The Lord Lyon  attended the National Police Memorial Day in the Royal Concert Hall Glasgow and gave the Address. The First Minister and the Home Secretary were present alongside families who lost members while on duty and many serving and past serving Officers for all over the UK.

25th Anniversary of the Scottish Parliament

 The Lord Lyon and Officers of arms, accompanied by young people from all over Scotland, attended the King and Queen today at the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Scottish Parliament. The procession included the Elizabeth Sword, designed by Mark Dennis.

Unicorn at the High School of Glasgow

 Unicorn Pursuivant addressed Commemoration Day of the High School of Glasgow at Glasgow Cathedral today on the subject of its coat of arms granted in 1919. The school is celebrating its "900th anniversary".

 Rothesay and Ross Heralds represented the Lord Lyon at the annual ceremony to open the Legal Year and at the Service of Thanksgiving thereafter in St Giles' Cathedral.

Ewing Family Convention

 Rothesay Herald presided today over the Ewing Family Convention, to consider recognition of a Chief, at historic Strathleven House built in 1708. A report on the Convention will be submitted to the Lord Lyon for his consideration. Strathleven House is a Palladian Mansion built for the Earl of Dundonald and was once the home of James Ewing MP for Glasgow, who died in 1853, but held by his descendants until the Second World War.

Douglas Memorial, Old Logie

 Ruth Davies of Pollock Davies has completed a commission for Old Logie Kirk, Stirlingshire, carving a wooden replica of the 17th century Memorial Stone of the Rev. Alexander Douglas, Minister from 1690-1720.
