Bishops Conference of Scotland

 The Lord Lyon has granted arms to the Bishops Conference of Scotland, chaired by Bishop John Keenan of Paisley. Lyon presented the letters patent to Most Reverend Leo Cushley, Metropolitan Archbishop of St Andrews and Edinburgh. The artist is Clare McCrory, Herald Painter.


Azure on a saltire Argent two bishops' croziers in saltire Gules and in chief a martlet Or all within a tressure Gules. Behind the shield is set a Celtic bishop's cross Or.

New MacPherson Armiger

 The Lord Lyon has granted arms to Euan Fraser MacPherson. The artist was Gayle Page and the blazon is:

 Azure a lymphad Or sails furled oars in action and flag and pennon flying Gules, on a chief embattled Or a hand fessways couped grasping a dagger point upwards on the dexter and on the sinister a Cross of Lorraine all Gules.

Lyon presented Mr MacPherson with the ketters patent in Perth on 26th October 2025.




Arms for the Royal Scottish Highland Games Association

  The Lord Lyon has granted arms to the Royal Scottish Highland Games Association and presented the letters patent to the Chairman at the AGM in the Salutation Hotel, Perth, on October 26th 2025. The artist was the Herald Painter, Clare McCrory, and the blazon is: Azure a saltire double parted and fretted Argent over all a wreath of thistles Or.

New Chief of Clan Ewing

  Tonight the Lord Lyon accompanied by Rothesay Herald attended the inauguration of Thor Ewing as Chief of the Name and Arms of Ewing at historic Riddles Court on the Royal Mile of Edinburgh.

Appointment of new Ceremonial and Development Officer

 The Lord Lyon is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Julie Smith. Julie joins the Court of the Lord Lyon as Ceremonial and Development Officer after several years in frontline politics at the Scottish Parliament.  With a degree in Corporate Communication she has a background in event and stakeholder management, public relations, and business administration.



New Kintyre Pursuivant Extraordinary appointed

 The Lord Lyon has appointed Susan Flintoff VR to be Kintyre Pursuivant Extraordinary.


She is the Chief Executive and Keeper of the Rolls at the Scottish National War Memorial, and the first woman and ex-Naval officer to hold the post. Susan served for 27 years as a reservist in the Royal Naval Reserve at HMS DALRIADA, including five years full-time service at HMNB Clyde working for FOSNNI and the Naval Base Commander.  Her RNR specialisation was Maritime Trade Operations, and she deployed on exercise to the Falklands, Poland, Persian Gulf and France.  Whilst serving as a reservist she has also had a civilian career working mainly in banking and was a qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.  Keen to support the development of the next generation, Susan is a Trustee and Treasurer at her local Sea Cadet Unit.  She holds the Volunteer Reserve Service Medal.

Memorial Service for Sir Geoff Palmer KT OBE

  On 10th October, the Lord Lyon and Lyon Clerk attended the Memorial Service at St Giles Cathedral for Sir Geoff Palmer KT OBE, Chancellor of Heriot-Watt University. The Styles and titles of Sir Geoff were read by the Lord Lyon.
