Heralds visit the National Museum of Scotland
The Lyon Clerk, Marchmont and Ross Heralds, and Carrick, Bute and March Pursuivants were guests of the National Museum of Scotland and viewed the recently acquired Herald’s tabard, badge and chain of office worn at the coronation of George IV in 1821.
That coronation was the first attended by all the Scottish Officers of Arms, and new uniforms were made for the event. These were subsequently worn for the visit of George IV to Edinburgh the following year. The Lyon Office party members were the guests of Rebecca Jones, the Keeper of Scottish History and Archaeology, and Calum Robertson, Sarah Laurenson and Helen Wyld to whom we extend our sincere thanks.
