New Grant of Arms
At the St Andrewstide Dinner of the Heraldry Society of Scotland, the Lord Lyon presented Paolo Capanni with his Letters Patent granting him arms:
The blazon is: Gules a chevron Argent between in chief two Pisan crosses of the Second and in base a boar's head cabossed Or armed and langued of the Second.
The Pisan Cross is, I think new to the Register. Pisa is one of the four ancient maritime constituents of what is now Italy and the cross appears on the Italian naval jack:
Top row: Venice, Genoa
Bottom row: Amalfi, from which via Amalfitan merchants the Maltese cross of the SMOM is thought to derive, and Pisa,
