Happy St Andrew's Day

Happy St Andrew's Day 2023!

We especially salute the Scottish Diaspora, represented this year by the arms of the St Andrew's Society of the State of Sao Paolo, Brazil, now celebrating its 100th year.

Blazon: Azure a saltire Argent between in chief a thistle slipped and leaved Argent, in base a sword paleways between two branches of laurel of the Last, and in each flank four sprigs of rue in saltire Or. Above the shield on a wreath of the liveries is set for crest a castellated coronet Or masoned Sable ports Gules and issuant therefrom on poles in saltire the national flags of Scotland and Brazil.

From our files 100 years ago today, here are the arms of the eminent judge, Robert Younger, Baron Blanesburgh of Alloa, son of two Scottish brewing families, Younger and McEwan.


Per saltire Or and Gules a rose counterchanged in base a martlet Sable on a chief indented Azure three covered cups Or. Supporters: Dexter, the figure of St Blane; Sinister, an Ermine both proper standing upon a mount set with thistles.
